Project Spotlight - Synthetic Lawn Design & Solving Drainage Problems

Project Spotlight - Synthetic Lawn Design & Solving Drainage Problems

Here’s a recent project in El Dorado Hills where the clients wanted to remove their lawn, solve their drainage problem, and have a nice viewing garden in their front yard. During the rainy season, the yard would flood and they wanted to stop maintaining a lawn with all the water and chemicals it needed to look good. We replaced the grass with a new synthetic turf design, sloped the area to drain properly, and install the dry creek bed to help even more with drainage. We are happy to report they love their new front yard and last rainy season, they had no flooding!

Synthetic lawns have grown in popularity as a low-maintenance alternative to natural grass. We have been installing more and more of them over the years because many homeowners are fed up with poor looking lawns for most of the year, increased water bills, and the maintenance involved trying to keep it green.

If anyone had ever told me ten years ago that I’d have a synthetic lawn at my own house, I would’ve told them they were crazy! But synthetic turf has come a long way since the days of ‘Astroturf’ with the modern manufacturing with individual blades in blends of colors to make them look more natural. My house has many trees in the front yard and the combination of very shady areas and Redwood roots made it nearly impossible to have a nice lawn. We went with beautiful multi-green-colored blade design and the highest quality backing which will last longer than other less expensive types. The initial cost is more expensive than a new sod lawn with irrigation but the results are visually amazing and worry-free.

We (and our dogs:) love having a lush green lawn year-round that doesn’t require tons of water, chemicals, or mowing.

So whatever you call it, synthetic lawn, artificial turf, etc, if you’re thinking about one and would like to see if it’s a right fit for your house, feel free to contact me and we can discuss further:
