Spring Garden Tips
While our world might be slowing down as we all shelter in place- Springtime is full speed ahead!
What an amazing time to be sheltering in place- beautiful weather and also an important time for gardening. Gardening is so therapeutic and can help ease all the anxiety this virus is giving us as well!
Here are a few important things that all gardens can benefit from when Spring comes around!
Fertilize
The winter is a sleepy time for your garden and now it is waking up! It needs some fuel for all the work it has to do!
Apply a balanced fertilizer (the numbers on the container should read 6-6-6 or 8-8-8) around trees and shrubs when new growth appears.
Your garden will thank you with its beauty!
Prune Shrubs
You know how we all trim our hair to keep it healthy and strong? Well, the garden needs that too!
Remove dead and damaged branches from plants. Thin and trim summer-blooming shrubs such as butterfly bush, hydrangea, and most roses.
Something to note, Spring-blooming trees and shrubs should be pruned after their bloom.
Good luck to everyone with getting through this challenging time. Hopefully you have a little extra time on your hands and can get out into your garden!
