The Landscape Design Process: Step One - The Conceptual Stage - Gill Gardens - El Dorado Hills Landscape Architect & Garden Designer
At Gill Gardens, we start our design process by developing a conceptual landscape design plan with all elements for a site. It covers everything that could potentially be installed on a site, even ideas that might be phased over time.
After we meet with our clients and they express all the garden elements they would like, we study the site and creatively look for all the possibilities that can make your garden the best it can possibly be for you to enjoy.
This conceptual plan is essentially a master plan that is a ‘road map’ to follow for your garden and stops you from potentially going off course as your develop your landscape, especially if you plan to phase the project over time. This helps the project stay focused and keeps the design cohesive.
The photo on top is a hand drawn conceptual plan that is the starting point and is presented at the first client presentation. From there, clients decide what they like in the design and if necessary, we revise it accordingly.
Many times we develop certain ideas that our clients never thought about and end up wanting to incorporate these landscape ideas in their garden.
The conceptual stage should be the ideas stage where the design is in flux and then focused and developed into a final plan, all leading to the finished product: a landscape you love.
If you have a landscape project that you would like to hire us for in order to develop a conceptual master plan for your garden, please schedule an appointment with us here: https://www.gill-gardens.com/schedule-appointment
