Karl Foerster's Feather Reed Grass - An Amazing Ornamental Grass!

Last week, I had to pop into one of our awesome client’s garden and I was blown away by how great the Calamagrostis x acutiflora ‘Karl Foerster’ (Foerster's Feather Reed Grass) looked in the setting sun. I took this picture and it reminded me of what a great ornamental grass this is and why I love to use it.

Foerster's Feather Reed Grass’ growth habit is more vertical as its base height and width reaches approximately 2’ but its feathery stalks reach approximately 6’ and look amazing when they are swaying in the wind.

Here in El Dorado Hills, we are fortunate that this ornamental grass usually winters over very nicely and gives year-round interest. It can tolerate various growing conditions but prefers wet soil and full sun.

I highly recommend it if this look blends with your garden’s design.
