Conceptual Landscape Design - Computer-Generated & Hand-Drawn Renderings

The design process for us starts with the Conceptual Landscape Design.

The Conceptual Design focuses on putting down on a plan all the ideas, components, and elements of the proposed landscape. It serves as the “road map” that will drive the design into the Construction Documents.

In this phase, we take all your ideas and incorporate it into a cohesive design and we will usually present two different design options for you to review.

The Conceptual Design Plans above are the two different ways we render. Computer-generated renderings are the way we are trending towards now but historically we have presented hand-drawn renderings. Hand-drawn renderings are beginning to be a dying art form in landscape architecture but we still love doing them! The decision to do one type over the other usually comes down to the scope of the project.

After the Conceptual Design is reviewed and approved, we often move to the Construction Document Phase which entails computer-generated AutoCAD plans, but that will be a topic of a future blog post so stay tuned….

We have recently transitioned to design only and we have a few available spots open for new projects this spring, so if you are thinking about renewing your existing landscape or you’ve just moved into a new home and would love a new garden to enjoy, we’d love to meet you and discuss your ideas.
